Expand broadband to underserved communities
“Broadband is a necessity, not a luxury.”
Promise kept Promise Date: 15 Nov 2021 Promise Deadline: 20 Jan 2025
Promise Details

Harris led initiatives to close the digital divide, promising broadband access for all Americans. Through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, billions were allocated for broadband expansion. Rollout began in 2022 and continued nationally.

What was done

The infrastructure law allocated ~$42 billion for broadband expansion, and programs like USDA’s ReConnect and NTIA’s “Internet for All” are actively funding broadband access in rural/underserved areas. While the promise is “Kept” in the sense the law passed and funding started, rollout is delayed and critics argue actual service remains minimal.
